Ford Ranger Detailing Canberra.
Why the Ranger is a different job
A work truck on weekdays, a family car on weekends.
The dual-cab Ranger has become the default Canberra vehicle, and it lives a double life. It hauls tools and gravel through the week, then does the school run and a coast trip on the weekend. Very few cars we see cop that spread of abuse.
That means the paint takes a beating from a direction most cars never do. Loose stone off the tray, scratches down the flanks from brushing past trailers and fences, and a front bar that eats gravel every time you leave the tarmac.
It also means the areas that matter most are not the ones a standard wash targets. The tub, the tailgate top edge, the sills and the tow bar area do more to date a Ranger than the bonnet ever will.
The work
Protect the parts that actually take the hits.
Most Rangers come to us for protection rather than restoration, so the order of work is usually decontamination, then correction where the paint warrants it, then protection.
Front end. This is where paint protection film earns its money on a ute. The bar, bonnet leading edge and guards take constant stone strike on dirt roads and on the Federal and Barton highways. Film absorbs that; a coating alone will not.
Paint and trim. A ceramic coating over corrected paint makes the weekly wash far easier when the car is permanently dusty. Just as important on a Ranger is the black plastic cladding around the arches and bumpers, which chalks and fades badly under ACT sun. We can treat and coat that so it holds its colour instead of going grey.
Interior. Work boots, dog hair and red dust get right into the carpet and the seat rails. Our interior detailing includes extraction through the carpets rather than a vacuum over the top of them.
Local conditions
Gravel roads and a lot of sun.
If your Ranger sees the Brindabellas, the Kosciuszko roads or any of the dirt around the ACT border, the front end and the lower doors are taking constant sandblasting. That is the case for film on the nose and a coating everywhere else.
Utes also tend to live outside. Very few are garaged, which means full UV exposure year round on paint and on plastic trim that is already prone to fading.
We work on Wildtrak, Raptor, XLT, XLS and Sport, and on older PX generation trucks that need the paint brought back before anything gets protected. Indicative pricing is listed across all services.
Common questions
Ford Ranger FAQs.
Yes. Chalky, greyed plastic cladding is one of the most common Ranger complaints we get. We clean and restore the trim, then coat it so it holds colour rather than fading again within months.
If you drive gravel or highway regularly, it is the single most cost effective thing you can do. Film on the bar, bonnet edge and guards stops stone chips reaching the paint, which is exactly the damage that hurts resale on a ute.
Yes. The tub, tailgate and sills are included. On work utes we will often decontaminate the tub properly rather than just hose it, because concrete splatter, tar and dropped fuel do long term damage if left.
Yes, that is a standard part of an interior detail. Hair worked into cloth seats and carpet needs extraction and specific tooling rather than a vacuum, which is what tends to leave it behind.
